“We are beginning our descent into Bangkok. Please return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt,” the pilot announces. In less than 30 minutes, your plane will land in Bangkok, the “City of Angels” and capital of the Kingdom of Thailand, also known as the Land of Smiles, due to the kindness and hospitality of its people.
This day in Bangkok alternates between cultural discoveries and moments of local life. From iconic temples like the Grand Palace and Wat Pho to the lively streets of Chinatown, via a boat trip on the klongs and a sunset facing Wat Arun, each moment reveals a different facet of the city, between spirituality, effervescence and the gentleness of the river.
Late morning, you’ll leave your Bangkok hotel for Kanchanaburi. En route, a stop will allow you to discover Wat Tham Suea and the famous Bridge on the River Kwai. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your riverside ecolodge, nestled amidst jungle and serenity. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy: indulge in a massage, relax, or simply soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
The day begins with a visit to a Mon village, an opportunity to meet this community with its preserved traditions and learn about their unique culture. The experience continues with an immersion in Erawan National Park, famous for its seven-tiered waterfalls with turquoise pools, nestled in the heart of a lush jungle. A day combining human connection and natural splendor, before returning to the peaceful comfort of your riverside ecolodge.
Ayutthaya reveals the majestic traces of the ancient Kingdom of Siam, amidst ruins reclaimed by vegetation and the slender silhouettes of prangs. At the end of the day, the golden light enhances the vestiges before you board the night train to Chiang Mai, the start of a peaceful journey at the rhythm of the rails.
Arriving in Chiang Mai in the early morning, the city unfolds in a gentle, retro atmosphere. After settling in and enjoying a local breakfast, you’ll explore the old city and its iconic temples before continuing on to Doi Suthep and its majestic panoramic views of the valley. A first day steeped in spirituality and Lanna charm.
You’ll depart from Chiang Mai towards the peaceful hills of Mae Wang to encounter elephants in their natural habitat: feeding them, walking through the jungle, and experiencing moments of genuine connection. The morning continues with a bath in the river alongside the elephants, followed by bamboo rafting. After a picnic lunch near a waterfall, you’ll return to Chiang Mai around 4:00 PM, your heart filled with powerful images and a connection to nature.
Mid-morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Surat Thani. Upon arrival, a private driver will take you to the heart of Khao Sok National Park, where your ecolodge, surrounded by lush vegetation and spectacular karst formations, awaits you for a tropical immersion. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a free afternoon: a gentle walk in the jungle, a bicycle ride, relaxation at the lodge, or a visit to an ethical elephant sanctuary that promotes respectful observation. The day concludes in a tranquil atmosphere with The Jungle Dinner Experience, a dinner in the heart of nature where Thai flavors are savored to the rhythm of the forest and the tropical night.
At 9:00 AM, your day begins with a peaceful bamboo rafting trip, gliding down the river to the rhythm of the jungle and the mountains reflected in the water. Around 11:00 AM, you’ll reach the pier to cross Cheow Lan Lake, an emerald mirror surrounded by magnificent karst cliffs. Upon arrival at Greenery Panvaree, the team will welcome you before lunch, and the afternoon will be spent swimming, kayaking, and admiring the pristine scenery. At the end of the day, a boat trip will reveal the lake’s most secluded landscapes, followed by dinner by the water, bathed in the tranquility of the approaching night.
Please note: another floating resort also offers small villas on the water for an even more comfortable experience; contact us for more information.
As dawn breaks, you’ll set off again by boat to admire a rare spectacle: mist clinging to the water’s surface as the mountains slowly emerge. A silent moment where the lake seems to breathe with the morning. After breakfast, you’ll enjoy the resort’s tranquility one last time before leaving your floating bungalow at 9:30 am. The final crossing will take you between the limestone peaks of the “Guilin of Thailand” to the shore, arriving around 10:30 am. Your driver will then take you to the pier to reach Koh Phra Thong, a pristine and timeless island. A warm welcome awaits you at Baba Ecolodge, where you’ll experience an eco-friendly immersion and enjoy a free afternoon in the heart of the island’s peaceful serenity.
The morning is free to enjoy the island’s natural surroundings. The lodge offers several activities: excursions to neighboring islands, canoe trips through the mangroves, traditional massages, or cooking classes. You can also simply savor the tranquility, surrounded by the sea, wind, and tropical birds. At 4:30 pm, depart by jeep or pickup truck to explore the Koh Phra Thong savanna at sunset. With its tall grasses, scattered trees, and discreet wildlife, the landscape evokes the African plains. The excursion concludes with an aperitif as the sun sets, accompanied by a glass of wine and light snacks prepared by the lodge.
A free day awaits you, whether you choose to relax on the deserted beach, explore the island at your leisure, or experience a Robinson Crusoe-style escape. Baba Ecolodge also offers, at your own expense, wonderful nature excursions: trekking on Koh Ra, traditional fishing, cooking classes… We particularly recommend the snorkeling day trip to the Surin Islands, where you can explore pristine reefs and meet the Moken people. Alternatively, independently explore the mangroves by kayak or paddleboard, or venture out to the neighboring islands, or discover the underwater world around Hornbill Hill. Several viewpoints and a forest trail complete this immersive wilderness experience.
Enjoy a final free morning on Koh Phra Thong to soak up the island’s tranquility one last time. Late morning, you’ll take a boat to the mainland, where your driver will take you to Phang Nga Bay. From there, you’ll embark for Koh Phanyi, an iconic floating village nestled at the foot of karst cliffs. Set sail for Koh Panyi, where life on stilts returns to its peaceful state once the tourists have departed. The rest of the day is free to stroll through the wooden alleyways, see the floating football pitch, and observe the daily life of the fishermen. Dinner will be served at a local’s home in a simple and welcoming atmosphere, followed by an authentic evening lulled by the sound of the sea.
Morning in Koh Panyi unfolds slowly, amidst a light mist, fishing boats, and children running along wooden walkways. You’ll then embark on a private, traditional boat trip, gliding through the heart of the karst cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, bathed in soft, ever-changing light. Back in the village, you’ll take a shared boat back to the mainland, then continue on to Phuket or Krabi, depending on your itinerary. This marks the end of your journey—or perhaps the beginning of a new adventure, should you choose to extend your stay and explore other corners of Southeast Asia.
