Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi
“We are beginning our descent into Hanoi. Please return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt,” announces the cabin crew chief. In less than thirty minutes, you will land in the heart of Vietnam’s capital, a true crossroads of colonial past, millennia-old heritage, and vibrant Asian energy. A first taste of Asia awaits, amidst the bustling streets, the tranquil lakes, and the captivating aromas of the markets. Depending on your flight time, we may offer you an initial immersion in Hanoi’s Old Quarter: a walking tour through lively alleyways, past small temples, neighborhood markets, and traditional cafes.

Day 2: Hanoi
Start your day with a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, immersing yourself in the vibrant morning atmosphere of locals practicing tai chi and browsing impromptu markets. Then, stop for coffee at the Railway Market, a true hub of local energy. Continue your exploration by delving into the narrow streets of the Old Quarter, where a street food lunch will immerse you in the most authentic Vietnamese flavors. In the afternoon, discover the Opera House, the Temple of Literature, and Hoa Lo Prison, all testaments to the country’s history and culture. Day 3: Lao Cai - Sapa
Arrive in Lao Cai around 6:30 am, where you will be met by your guide and have breakfast at a local restaurant. Drive to a northern ethnic market (60 km/1.5 hours), a vibrant hub where Hmong, Tay, and Phu La people gather to trade, sell buffalo, horses, or pigs, and share their colorful handicrafts. Each day of the week features a different market: Bac Ha on Sundays, Coc Ly on Tuesdays, Lung Khau Nhin on Thursdays, and Cancau on Saturdays. Meet the villagers in their traditional costumes, then continue to Sapa (100 km/3 hours), home to hill tribes, nestled among terraced rice paddies, lush vegetation, and the majestic Fansipan mountain. Dinner and overnight stay with a local family.

Day 4: Sapa
Departure at 8:30 am for a day in the heart of the Muong Hoa Valley, renowned for its stunning terraced rice paddies. A stroll through the village of Ta Van, inhabited by the Day ethnic group, followed by a visit to the village of Lao Chai, populated by the Black Hmong. Continue with a hike through bamboo forests to Giang Ta Chai, home to the Hmong and Red Dao people (approximately 3 hours, adjustable to your pace; a vehicle is available for those not hiking). Meet the locals and immerse yourself in their daily life. Return to Sapa, then transfer to Lao Cai (40 km/1 hour). Board the overnight train to Hanoi (unguided) in an air-conditioned sleeper, departing around 8:30 pm.

Day 5: Hanoi - Ninh Binh
Arrive in Hanoi around 5:00 AM by train. Your guide will meet you at the train station for a transfer to Ninh Binh. The hustle and bustle of the capital quickly gives way to verdant rice paddies, winding rivers, and traditional villages. Gradually, the region’s iconic karst formations unfold, offering a breathtaking landscape of limestone cliffs and fertile valleys. After lunch, check into your hotel and enjoy a free afternoon. For those who are keen, a short hike leads to a famous viewpoint overlooking Ninh Binh. The day concludes peacefully at the hotel.

Day 6: Ninh Binh - Halong Bay
At dawn, board a private sampan and glide between the karst cliffs, in an atmosphere of serenity punctuated only by birdsong. Before the hustle and bustle of the day, discover the Bich Dong Pagoda in an intimate and peaceful setting. In the late morning, travel to the legendary Halong Bay where you will board a junk (without a guide). The afternoon will be dedicated to exploring the majestic landscapes of the bay. The evening concludes with dinner on board, before you drift off to sleep lulled by the stillness of the waters and the surrounding magic.

Halong Bay - Hue
After a night aboard the junk and a stop in Hanoi to catch the night train, head to Hue, the former imperial capital. Here, palaces, pagodas, and the scents of history immerse you in the heart of royal Vietnam.
Day 7: Halong Bay - Hanoi - Hue
At the first light of dawn, try your hand at Tai Chi on the upper deck, lulled by the tranquility of the bay. The cruise continues among islets and majestic landscapes, with a visit to a natural cave boasting astonishing formations. Disembark in the late morning, then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to Hanoi (180 km – approximately 4 hours). Arrival is expected around 4:00 PM, before boarding the overnight sleeper train to Hue, the former imperial capital.

Day 8: Hue
Upon arrival, you will be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel with breakfast. The morning will be dedicated to exploring the Imperial City, the vibrant heart of the former Nguyen Dynasty. Day 11: Hoi An - Ho Chi Minh
Enjoy a free morning to soak up the charm of Hoi An one last time, exploring its narrow streets and unique atmosphere, before your transfer to Danang Airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, you will be met by your driver and taken to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure, or, if you prefer, discover Ho Chi Minh City off the beaten path with a guide and your driver.

Day 12: Ho Chi Minh - Ban Tre
After breakfast, your driver will meet you at the hotel to depart for Ben Tre, the verdant heart of the Mekong Delta, shaped by a vast network of canals.
